Beyond COVID-19: Hormone and Allergy Testing Panels at Sameday Health

Your health depends on making sure that each aspect of your life meets your physical, mental, and emotional needs. The key to knowing what those needs are is a comprehensive understanding of your unique body. Two systems that drastically impact your entire body are your endocrine and immune systems. So, what do these systems do and how can Sameday Health help you understand how these systems are impacting your health?

The Endocrine System

Your endocrine system is comprised of various glands and organs that produce and respond to hormones to regulate your metabolism, growth, reproduction, mood, and more. Hormones act as messengers between these glands and organs, giving them specific instructions for how to carry out certain processes (EPA). Hormones are powerful messengers, so having an imbalance, either too much or too little, of any hormone can have major consequences to your health. Symptoms of an imbalance can include irregular periods, infertility, diabetes, obesity, and skin issues (Cleveland Clinic).

The Immune System

Your immune system is a network of organs, blood cells, and antibodies that protect you from infections or help you recover from illness. A healthy immune system is one that recognizes, attacks, and kills viruses, bacteria, fungi, or unhealthy cells that are not supposed to be in the body (Cleveland Clinic). Sometimes, however, the immune system is too active, causing unhealthy responses to harmless substances or even your own healthy cells. Food allergies are the result of an overactive immune system, causing hives, trouble breathing, or even death (Cleveland Clinic).

Our Panels

Understanding your hormone levels and your immune response can give you tremendous insight into what your body needs. Whether you suspect a hormone imbalance or food sensitivity, or just want gain more knowledge about your body, Sameday Health is here for you. We have two hormone panels, the Male Hormone panel and Female Hormone panel, and two Food Allergy panels.

Food Allergy Panels

Our Food Allergy Panels test for the presence of the IgE antibody in your blood to different foods. The Food Allergy Panels test for allergies to the following foods:

  • Walnuts

  • Peanuts

  • Wheat

  • Shrimp

  • Egg whites

Male Hormone Panel

Our Male Hormone Panel focuses on testosterone levels in the body. Testosterone is a hormone produced in the testes or ovaries, and controls different functions depending on your age and sex. For adults, testosterone regulates libido, red blood cell production, and protects your bones and muscles (Cleveland Clinic). Having the appropriate level of testosterone in the body is vital to many of your systems, and symptoms of an imbalance can range from minor to quite significant. In men, symptoms of a testosterone imbalance can include:

  • Erectile Dysfunction

  • Prostate enlargement

  • Heart Muscle Damage

  • Unintentional weight fluctuations

  • Insomnia

  • Increased risk of blood clots

  • Mood swings

Female Hormone Panel

Our Female Hormone Panel focuses on estrogen and progesterone levels in the body. Estrogen is produced by the ovaries and can impact your fertility, menstrual cycle, cholesterol, blood sugar, bone and muscle health, collagen production, and brain function. Progesterone, similar to estrogen, plays an important part in the health of your reproductive system and helps maintain a healthy pregnancy (Cleveland Clinic). Understanding your estrogen and progesterone levels can help you understand your body now, and potentially help your body in the future. Symptoms of an imbalance can vary person to person, but in women tend to be:

  • Irregular menstruation

  • Low sex drive

  • Painful sex

  • Increase in UTIs

  • Unintentional weight fluctuations
